We provide planning advice for a variety of development types, over a wide geographic area, for a range of clients. This includes residential and commercial developers, retailers, private landowners and individual private clients. Our services include:

  •

We have a large number of individual clients who are seeking to maximise the value of their land or buildings. Projects vary widely and include the re-use of rural buildings, exploring the wide scope of permitted development for change of use and urban developments/infill sites. We also provide advice to a large number of local and national housebuilders on a variety of sites, including sustainable urban extensions, city centre developments and village edge proposals. With Neighbourhood Planning becoming increasingly prominent in the planning sphere, we undertake a number of public and stakeholder consultation events and meetings each year.

  •

Working with a number of architects and architectural technicians, we provide detailed advice, manage and negotiate on complex sites with a range of technical constraints. Having built up a range of good contacts we would be happy to discuss the most appropriate designers for your project, acknowledging that each client will approach each project with their own objectives.

  •

We are able to provide advice regarding planning policy and standards for design, parking and amenity. We are able to identify potential problem areas on a layout before submitting it to the local authority enabling the team to better anticipate comments raised in the pre-application or application process and for cost effective solutions to be found.

  •

Covering all spectrums of the commercial sector, the practice has experience of retail, industrial and commercial development. Our team recognises the economic challenges faced by many of our commercial clients and strive to achieve a timely, cost effective and profitable permission.

  •

If you’re contacting us about enforcement matters, you will probably be one of our more anxious clients. We recognise that, in the vast majority of instances, a breach of planning control was a genuine error. We also know from experience that they can often be resolved through calm, patient discussion with your local authority. We assess each case carefully and provide clear advice on the best strategy to resolve the issue.

  •

A large part of our work is land promotion through the Development Plan process. Land currently being promoted by the practice includes smaller parcels of land on the edge of villages and towns to large strategic sized sites that require lengthy discussion with the local authority and other stakeholders. We provide advice on how best promote sites and make formal submissions during the plan-making process. Our involvement continues throughout the promotion process and can include making representations at Local Plan and Neighbourhood Plan Examinations.

  •

We have a successful track record with appeals and are able to provide expert advice and evidence as part of the written procedure, hearings and at inquiries. We also provide advice and act on our client’s behalf for enforcement appeals. If you have had your application refused and we weren’t involved, we are able to review the proposal and decision and advise on the best way forward. Should we recommend an appeal, we are able to act on your behalf despite having no involvement at the application stage.
